The school year is almost finished out for me, and finals week approaches. So before I start studying non-stop, I thought I'd put out a little "update". My CS-330 class' professor always asked us if we could do or finish something "given sufficient time and motivation". Well I found some time, no idea where the motivation came from, and I managed to reasonably clone a game we used as the basis for one of our projects *. It's just my nature to decide the Flash wasn't enough and recreate it with object-oriented JavaScript and Canvas. The Widget is intended to be influenced by the original in size, shape, and looks, but not be exactly the same. * The project was to build a "blackout"-game solver, and he pointed us to a rather nice Flash game for reference. The solver was supposed to find the optimal moves to winning any possible board state. Rules- Click a tile to flip itself and tiles one to the left, right, top and bottom.
- To win, get all tiles to show the same color.
Tips:- All 3x3 Blackout puzzles can be solved in 9 moves or less.
- Flipping a specific tile more than once, no matter how many you flipped in between, effectively "undoes" the move.
Reference game:A Beautiful Mind :: BlackoutMy Widget:Download Blackout.widget Missing features:- Tile flipping is not animated.
- I have sufficient motivation, sure, but not ample time.

QUOTE(bjbk @ May 10 2008, 08:57 AM) Nice work mate! Its a classic little game, it runs very smooth, works as advertised! Thanks. I updated the Widget. Nothing major, just an instructions menu for those that don't know the game and increased the version number to something real. Same link above.

QUOTE(Cicerone Pavaloi @ May 12 2008, 09:41 AM) Nice. I do believe it would look nicer if you were using images for the board. If I wanted a textured board, yes. Other than that, I hope you're joking!
