QUOTE(monolistic @ Apr 1 2006, 02:03 PM) One of the best widgets in the gallery by far! Call me a sucker for the old days of Informer, but I liked it when the sensors didn't link to anything, especially because a lot of my stray clicks seem to go in the direction of the bar, and I find myself launch all sorts of apps. Could you add an option in the widget preferences to disable the click events (e.g. lauching the Windows Date/Time Properties when clicking the Clock Sensor) or even have a bar "lock" type system that disables the 'on click' events when engaged? Thanks. Good idea! In the following beta-version I will make lock mode.

New beta 7! Changes: - Fixed some bugs
- Lock mode (similar to 'Lock the Toolbars' in Windows Explorer)
- IMAP4/POP3 Mail Checker sensor with SSL support for IMAP4 & POP3 (now work with Gmail's POP3)
Download: http://www.extensiblesoft.com/informer/Informer_Beta.widgetTo use SSL under Windows you must download libeay32.dll & ssleay32.dll and copy it into Windows\system32 folder.

hi i'm working on an "Internet Shoutcast Radio" Sensor for Informer Widget (Windows version). The first version working now. you can add an "Internet Radio sensor", choose to autoplay it when Informer Widget start or not. Is somebody interesting in a such function ? isn't so fun to start playing your prefered radio when your computer start ?

FYI: With the POP/IMAP Checker, I would get an error every time I tried to check an account with a password that contained symbols. I changed my password to one that doesn't have symbols, and it works.

Here's another idea: How about making the blank areas (where there is no sensor) transparent to mouse clicks, so you can acutally click the windows under the widget?
Example: I have Informer running at the bottom above my taskbar, and I have Microsoft Excel running maximized. I can see through Informer to read what is on the "status bar" at the bottom of Excel, but I cannot click on the "status bar" for any Excel functionality.
I think it would be great if all of the shaded background, where there aren't any sensors, would let mouse clicks go right through to the application underneath. What do you think?

Michael Set your Informer's Dock Opacity to 0 ... and that should do it. That's the way I handle it on my machine anyway Another small request, could you change the status of the mail sensor so that when there's no mail in the box it says "0" rather then "n/a" ? There's no difference between an error and no mail... so when I was setting mine up I had the wrong password and it took me the longest time to figure out "n/a" sometimes means error and sometimes means no mail. Thanks again for this great tool ! - Void

Thanks again for this great tool ! - Void Thanks, Void! That is great, though it would be nice if I could have the "0% Opacity" effect with my mouse and still have a visual bar...the shaded bar just looks cool. In addition to Void's excellent suggestion of displaying "0" instead of "n/a" when there are no new messages, how about having a different display when offline? As of now, when I am offline, Informer simply tells me that I have the same number of messages I had the last time I was online. I am assuming that it just caches the last online status. Can there be some sort of indicator when offline, the way GmailGeiger does it (a globe with a red X)? Keep it going, this widget is fantastic! Michael

While we're on the subject of mail, I have the GMail sensor in between 2 others. It looks pretty cool, but it's a bit annoying when it checks the mail because the number of unread messages changes to the text "Checking..." which makes the sensor wider and causes all of the other sensors to move sideways and then move back again once finished. Perhaps changing the text to just "..." would solve this. I know this is a small point but you've already solved most of the biggies!

This is by far the best widget I have ever come across. It just keeps getting better and better! Now it is just missing a volume control and net bandwidth meter. Don't know if it is possible, but it would be great if it could be included...

I would like to position it on the bottom of the screen, but it leaves space for taskbar, even though the taskbar is at the top position. Otherwise, so far so good. I just discovered this today and I like it.

On my dual core AMD system (XP Pro SP2) with a 2GB for virtual memory on my main C: drive, the swap sensor gives the following info: Total Virtual: 1.4MB Available Virtual: -77889864 Swap Load: 5144% FYI, I know that systemBox displays the information correctly. And nice job on this. Well done, well thought out, and well executed. Kudos.

Andy, I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I think it would be great to have the "application launch" option separate for each sensor that uses that feature. That is to say for each mail and RSS sensor used, in the sensor properties, there is a place to specify what application to launch. This way, a user can launch Outlook for one email account, Outlook Express for another, Eudora for another, etc., and the same for RSS feed softwares. Even better, make it so the user can launch either an application or a URL, so for mail a user can go to a webmail interface and on an RSS sensor, a user can go to the web site of that feed.
You have one of the best widgets available and also have a lot of great ideas given to you on this forum. Keep up the great work!
Michael

Impressive! The only thing I would like to see is the ability to enlarge the informer bar; it is pretty small.
