Thought since nobody had started this yet, I'd have a go at it.

First, it's grabbing icons from all applications now, regarldess of the quality of the icon. That's pretty cool. It looks to default to 48px icons now as when I started up THdock under 3.0, all the (dimensions unset) icons were 48x48. So I quickly fixed that to be 32px as that's the size THdock assumes. The icons coming from apps without schnazzy 48px alpha-channel pixels are oddly corrupted, however. I'll get a screenshot for people later.

Second, something's different with TextAreas. This might have been one of those "prepare yourself" things, or maybe just bad code on my part. But in THnotes, the editable textarea... jumps around in position (by up to like half a line) when the mouse is over the textarea. Something else I'll need to look into. Also, when the textarea is open but not the "foreground", it shows no pagefaults (PF Delta). When it's foreground but the mouse isn't in it, it shows 1372 PF Delta.. solid. When interacting with it, it's spiking... up to 15,000 PF Delta. Something is definitely different, here.

So. New... 'issues' to look into, here.

Another issue (unrelated to veldcath's) is that all of the tickLabels in the preferences are completely missing.

Wow. Good eye, there. I was poking around in preferences and... completely missed that. But now that I go back and look, indeed they are.

Im also having issues with 3.0. I went to install it 10 min ago, and everything went fine. It however installed to a different folder than my last version (2.1.1). Now 3.0 wont open when I click the icon, and 2.1.1 no longer can be found to un-install. Everytime I login though, it says welcome to konfabulator 2 and acts like I just installed it killing all the settings I had for some widgets. How come 3.0 doesnt see an older version, un-install it and take its place in that same folder like other programs do? blink.gif

Pretty much the same thing here. I still have the uninstall for 2...uninstalled and tried to install 3.0...still nothing. The download page says 8.8MB...my download is ~500KB and the installer says that the install size is 0.0MB.

My problem so far with 3.0 is that to get to the "Heads Up Display" I can only use F8. But that conflicts with Flash, so I need it to be something like Ctrl+Alt+F8 but that doesn't work. Anyone else?

Well, I tried this out.. Set Ctrl + F8 in the Preferences for the Heads Up Display and it works fine....
A normal F8 works fine for me too as I dont have any other conflicting software!!

It would seem that Yahoo! Notepad also exhibits the "jumpy scrollbar" problem that I'm experiencing with THnotes. Not to the same extent. It seems to happen whenever the mouse is moving through the textarea. If the mouse stops moving, the jumping stops.

Another thing to add to it is that my widgets always seem to be opaque, regardless of what i set the opacity to!! And to top it off, when i drag any window like IE over one of the widgets it now chugs my machine amd maxes out the CPU. I cant even get into preferences now without it crashing.

And the icing on the cake is that it uninstalled the old trustworthy konfabulator for me so there is no way to go back.

HELP!! i want the old Konfabulator back, not this tacky attempt for a corporate company to act cool by rebranding (and messing up) a perfectly good program.

I have used Konfabulator without issues for about 6 months now, then all of a sudden today, i log in and it tells me there's a new version to install. So I go through the typical uninstall the old program then install the new one routine. After it installs, I reboot, just to be safe. Konfabulator doesn't come up on Windows startup, so I figure it must be a setting i have to turn on. when I open it up, my screen goes black and it tells me it's "out of timing" i have an LCD display. Why the hell would Yahoo! make a good product suck so much daisy? Can anyone tell me? Also, if anyone has an older version of Konfabulator could they send it to me? I really like having the weather on my desktop.

Disgruntled,
Bob

EDIT
-----

I found a version of 2.1.1 out there. Installed it, loaded it up and it works great. Too bad I can't turn off the check for updates, but oh well. Maybe someday Yahoo!'s konfabulator won't suck.

Okay. Illustrations of the odd icon and text issues. First, on long textareas, clicking to select/edit is not reliable on position. This happens both in THnotes AND in Yahoo! Notepad.

Second, the scrolling issue.

user posted image

This problem becomes more pronounced near the center of a long textarea - the textarea will actually SCROLL as the mouse moves thorugh it until the insertion point is vertically centered. EDIT: This seems to only happen sometimes - most frequently when you set an insertion point, THEN scroll the textarea. As the mouse moves through it, it returns toward where it was when you set the insertion point.

Third, here is an example of an icon not loading properly:

EDIT: That is, for the record, the icon for WinSCP 3.6.8.

Why can't the new version startup when windows starts? You think Yahoo would've daone that. I'm prob. gonna go back to the older version...other than that..no other problems so far.

You could just paste a shortcut into the startup folder.

The scrolling issue seems to be incosistent. A friend of mine reports that he's using THnotes in 3.0 without any scrolling weirdness.

I sincerely doubt we caused your out of timing issue. We all have LCD displays here and have never seen such an error in all the months we've been working on this. We haven't changed anything wrt how we display on the screen, and we only use the standard Layered Window APIs that the sytem provides.

Do not install yahoo widget engine, it messes with your display. msn popup windows have appeared all scrambled and it actually stopped one program from loading, and re-arranged the screen and icons on another program! There are some sinister workings afoot! Going to reinstall Konfabulator v2.1.1 http://www.download.com/Konfabulator/3003-...4-10424070.html
As for it bugging me of new versions, a quick entry into peerguardian will stop konfabulator talking to yahoo.
phew that was close!

It is supposed to install the shortcut... check your startup items. Maybe we're not fixing it on an update vs. a new install is what the problem is. For now, just manually add a shortcut until we can fix it. What I ultimately want to do is add a checkbox in preferences for this.

I'm not sure how this is possible. As I had mentioned... we haven't changed anything related to how we put stuff on the screen. And how can we stop things from loading? We're just an application... no drivers or funny pieces we install. We just put up windows.
